McLaren F1 Sells For Over $8 Million

One of the greatest supercars ever made has just sold for a ridiculous amount of money.
In the midst of the Pebble Beach auction, one is going to see rare and one-off cars that often sell for more money than what you’d get for donating a kidney. Unfortunately, you need both kidneys to stay alive, so the extra funds will have to come from somewhere else. But it’s too bad you didn’t get the cash in time because this 1997 McLaren F1 has just sold for a record auction price of $8.47 million at the California seaside rich person’s car party. As the F1 crossed the auction block it was introduced by its designer, Gordon Murray.

Painted in Magnesium Silver, it also comes complete with tools, fitted luggage and all service records. Only last year it was fully serviced by the McLaren Authorized Service Center. Power comes from a 6.1-liter BMW V12 that produces 618 horsepower, allowing it to go from 0-60 mph in only 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 243 mph. Instead of some fancy and heavy dual-clutch gearbox, the driver rows his/her own gears via six-speed manual. Perhaps money does buy happiness after all.
