Aston Martins to Have AMG Engines Very Soon

Yep, this could be an absolutely epic combination.
Last June a big announcement happened: Mercedes-Benz in house performance division AMG and Aston Martin penned a new technical agreement. Basically how it’ll work is that Aston Martin will receive direct access to AMG resources, and AMG will get up to a five percent stake in AM. So when exactly will we see those AMG engines in future Aston Martins? According to a new report, Mercedes-Benz CEO Dr. Dieter Zetsche stated that it’ll happen in about three to four years.

So which engine(s) will AM be receiving from AMG? More than likely, it’ll be a turbocharged V8 along with gearboxes and various other electrical components. All of these materials will likely be used for the eventual DB9 and V8 Vantage replacements. At the same time, this new deal will also mean the engine of Aston’s relationship withFord, the supplier of those current V8s and V12s which are built in Germany. Those Ford engines always proved solid, but with AMG now on board, future Aston Martins are about to get just a little more insane.
