First Snaps of New Chrysler 200 Prototype

The stale Sebring styling of the current 200 will soon be consigned to the history books.
In creating the next-generation 200 sedan, Chrysler is mindful of removing all styling cues of the bland Sebring on which the current model is based. These spy shots are the first to show the new model wearing a production body, which you will be delighted to see sports a sleeker roofline as Chrysler aims to drag its portfolio into the era of four-door coupes. A sporty decklid spoiler and staggered rectangular exhaust pipes peeking out of the bumper are highlights of a modern rear end.

Looking at its face, a sleeker front end features a gaping lower air intake and sharp-looking headlights. Codenamed “UF,” the new 200 – rebadged as the Lancia Flavia in Europe – will be powered by Chrysler’s 2.4-liter four-pot and 3.2-liter V6, mated to its new nine-speed transmission. Fuel efficiency will be a key characteristic of the new sedan, with active grille shutters employed to improve aeros. Production of the next-gen Chrysler 200 will start early 2014.
