Russia’s Proton-M rocket, carrying European communication satellite Astra 2E, has successfully blasted off from the Baikonur cosmodrome at 21:38 GMT.
It is the first launch of the Proton since July, when the booster, hauling three GLONASS navigation satellites, came crashing down into the cosmodrome moments after liftoff.
