McLaren Officially Begins Production of the P1

Unfortunately, hypercars have never come cheap.
McLaren sources have confirmed that production has officially begun on its all-new flagship, the P1. The hybrid hypercar is being built at the UK carmaker’s Woking facility. All told, it’ll have a production run of just 375 examples, and according to some recent reports it’salready virtually sold out. The so-called direct successor to the legendary F1, the P1 is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 that’s paired with an electric motor for a combined output of 903 horsepower and 663 lb-ft of torque.

0-62 mph happens in less than three seconds and it can hit a top speed (electronically controlled) of 217 mph. It also has the ability to run on pure battery power for a limited range. McLaren claims the P1 is the best-handling hypercar in the world, but until there's an official showdown between it, the LaFerrari, and the Porsche 918 Spyder, we'll just have to wait and see. Unfortunately, such exclusivity comes at a high price. The price for all of this wonderful P1 madness? Around a million bucks.
